Epipremnum (Pothos)

Difficulty: Easy

Pet Friendly: No

Native to Southeast Asia, Epipremnum plants grow naturally on the rainforest floor, often finding a tree or rock to grow on the side of.

This tropical plant requires bright indirect sunlight and good drainage to thrive, although it can tolerate low light conditions. Containers with drainage holes and well-draining tropical houseplant soil will help prevent root rot. If possible, use a mix with 50% coco coir, 25% perlite, 20% vermiculite, and 5% compost or worm castings. Wait for the top two inches of the soil to dry out before watering again. If you cannot provide your Epipremnum with this mixture, I have found that regular tropical houseplant soil works well. To help your regular tropical houseplant soil mix boost growth for your Epipremnum, add some slightly acidic fertilizers. A sprinkle of coffee grounds has helped me in the past.
